Pigeon Control in Salt Lake City

Pigeon Problems Don't Stay Small

A few pigeons on the roofline can seem like a minor annoyance until they start nesting. Pigeons are highly adaptable birds that thrive in urban environments, and Salt Lake City's mix of flat commercial rooftops, older residential structures, and accessible food sources near downtown corridors and shopping centers along State Street makes it one of the most pigeon-active cities in the Intermountain West. Once a flock establishes a roosting or nesting site on a property, it rarely moves on without intervention.

Uinta Pest Solutions provides pigeon control for residential and commercial properties throughout Salt Lake City, starting with an inspection to identify where birds are active and what is allowing them to stay, so the plan we build reflects the actual conditions on your property, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Pigeons breed year-round in Utah's mild urban climate, and a single nesting pair can grow into a much larger flock over the course of one season. Their droppings, nesting material, and constant presence create health hazards, property damage, and ongoing maintenance costs that compound as the infestation goes unaddressed.

Because we're a locally owned team familiar with how seasonal patterns and regional conditions across the Salt Lake Valley influence bird behavior, we're able to give homeowners and business owners a more accurate picture of their situation and more practical guidance on what it takes to resolve it.

What Pigeon Control Involves

Effective pigeon control requires addressing the birds currently present, removing the contamination they have left behind, and physically preventing their re-access to the property. Our team handles all three as part of a coordinated service built around the findings of the inspection.

Our pigeon control process includes:

  • Property inspection – Our technicians identify all active roosting and nesting sites, assess the extent of damage and waste accumulation, and determine which structural features birds are exploiting. For properties with rooftop solar panels, inspection includes the underside of the array. Every recommendation that follows is based on what we find.
  • Nest removal – All nesting material is removed from affected areas. Nesting debris, which can include flammable materials such as dried grass and twigs near electrical components, is cleared as part of every service before any exclusion work begins.
  • Waste cleanup and sanitation – Droppings are removed from affected surfaces, and sanitation treatments are applied to reduce health risks and eliminate scent markers that draw pigeons back to an established site. Thorough cleanup is part of what makes exclusion installation more effective in the long term.
  • Exclusion installation – Physical exclusion is the most reliable method for preventing pigeons from returning. Depending on the property and specific nesting or roosting locations, exclusion may include perimeter mesh around rooftop solar arrays, netting over ledges or recessed areas, or spikes along preferred perch points. Materials and installation methods are selected for the specific application, and in the case of solar panel work, chosen to protect panel performance and manufacturer warranty terms.
  • Ongoing prevention guidance – After service, our team walks through what was addressed and what property conditions to monitor going forward. For solar systems, we recommend twice-yearly inspections given the region's seasonal dust accumulation in summer and increased bird pressure in cooler months.

Why Pigeons Are Difficult to Remove Without Professional Help

Pigeons are very habitual birds with strong loyalty to their sites. They tend to return to the same roosting and nesting spots over and over, even years after being moved. This explains why DIY deterrents often don’t work. Reflective tape, plastic predator decoys, and sound machines might briefly stop pigeons, but they quickly get used to static deterrents that don’t really threaten them. A flock that has been roosting on a ledge for many seasons will come back there even after surface-level deterrents are put in place.

Physical exclusion — barriers that prevent access to the nesting or roosting site entirely — is what breaks the pattern. When pigeons cannot physically occupy a site, they are forced to relocate rather than wait out a deterrent. What distinguishes professional exclusion from a DIY attempt is the inspection that precedes it. Improperly placed barriers leave gaps that birds will find and exploit, and improper attachment to certain structures, including solar panel mounting systems, can create additional problems.

Our team's inspection-first process means barriers are placed based on observed behavior and access points, not guesswork, and installed using methods appropriate for the specific surface and system involved.

Protect Your Property Before the Problem Grows

Pigeon pressure remains steady, and properties that have previously hosted nesting or roosting activity are more likely to face recurring problems if the conditions that attracted the birds are not addressed. The earlier an inspection is performed, the more options are available, and the less cleanup, repair, or remediation will be needed.

Uinta Pest Solutions helps homeowners and businesses understand their situation and take practical steps to resolve it.
